Opening Night:
Saturday 11th of August 3.30 – 4.00pm
Open Bite Printmakers return in 2012 for a new exhibition of advanced print making entitled Vice.
Open Bite Printmakers is a Sydney based group of 23 printmakers. Well known throughout the artistic community since its inception over 20 years ago, the group continues to evolve and keep up with changing techniques, themes and materials yet staying true to the original notion of printmaking. The artists come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have an interesting array of styles and an impressive list of prizes and qualifications to their names.
In this show, a group of 20 artists have produced works on paper responding to the theme of Vice, pushing and pulling, stretching and mutating the concept and understanding of the word. At times obvious and powerful, occasionally obscure and whimsical and sometimes humorous, the show is not boring but changeable and provoking. The theme undulates through a variety of ideas, displaying printmaking techniques from the modern matrix of polymer plate and digital manipulation to traditional etched zinc plates as well as combinations of everything in between.
