Salerno Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of painted works by Ghasan Saaid.
Through the use of colour, layers, shapes, symbols and textures Ghasan creates and expresses a world defined by contradictions such as separation and connection, strength and weakness. The more you observe the work the more you discover, whether it’s the past present or a possible future.
Artist Statement: My painting process develops as using different techniques, dividing the painting into cells based on my scope of vision and the overall balance of the piece – each cell playing the role of a single painting and together interacting harmoniously, exploring the lived (or experienced) time, space and nature, then the mythological and imaginary.
I then dramatically combined and manipulated the results with issues in our contemporary time and every day practice. All of these interactions intermingle with the viewer’s eye, mind and accumulated memory, helping them explore different balances and depth every time they observe the painting. My thought here resembles the spark between the viewer and the artwork or that outlet when it comes in contact with an idea, a memory, a familiarity or a twisted reality.
