Opening Night:
Saturday the 30th of June 6.30pm to 9pm
Brisbane based artist Clay Smith takes over Salerno Gallery for his new 2012 solo show entitled Trimorphism.
Split up into three parts, Trimorphism creates a satirical narrative of unique painted artworks, exploring the interplay between society and culture both at home and abroad.
Morph one- Osaka to Amsterdam
Two cultures one plane ride. The experience fused into one beautiful didactical exposé. Imagining the brain topography of these two cultures within a six week sojourn. You are visually enticed to engage viscerally in intricate extraction of the essence of the travelers nuances and memories.
Morph two- The Dirty Mexican
Surreptitiously defined in the street smart urban dictionary thusly, “A dirty Mexican is a Mexican who looks greasy an doesn’t take showers often. Someone who usually smells.” Total hogwash and Lunacy. Within the context of Australian State rivalry he is an exported quantity that substantially increases the average IQ in both NSW and QLD. He is a smart(arse), completely cocksure in his ability to outwit, out-spin and out-wrestle his compatriot east coast northerners intellectually and culturally. The Dirty Mexican will satirically compare iconic and unique cultural, landmarks both highbrow and lowbrow in QLD and NSW to his superior Victorian counterparts.
Morph three- Uncle Bunny’s idiosyncrasies
The enigmatic force of Uncle Bunny, his origins and the present day truth of this “supposed international saviour”. Predestined to have his ego deflated. Within a global village of somewhere between 27000 and 10000 unique and beautiful cultures why does this supposed western global peace keeper have the most heinous ability to steer us all towards destruction. His and all international military licenses should be permanently revoked and intercultural peace should reign.
