Come and see the long awaited solo exhibition of new works and installation by Tevita Havea.
Awarded International New Talent for 2009 by Urban Glass, New York.
Born 1969 in Nukualofa, Tonga, Tevita Havea came to Australia at the age of 10. He graduated in Visual Arts/Glass in 2005 at the Australian University, Canberra.
Since then he attracted almost instantly significant international attention. His works are found in public collections like the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning New York and the Glasmuseum Stiftung Ernsting in Germany as well as in numerous private collections.
His work reflects strongly his Polynesian heritage combined with his western upbringing. As the artist states: “I aim to mimic the rawness of the primitive, the refinement of the contemporary and voice the ‘inbetweeness’ of culture.”
